American Cancer Society Names National Communications VP; Greg Donaldson Health Care, Corporate Communications Veteran
1999/08/04 -The American Cancer Society, the nation's leading voluntary health organization and the preeminent source of cancer information and service, has announced that A. Gregory Donaldson has been named national vice president of corporate communications.

Mr. Donaldson, who was previously senior director of corporate communications and senior corporate spokesman for Humana Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky, will be responsible for coordinating the development and execution of strategic national communications programs and practices on behalf of the two million-member society.

"The American Cancer Society understands that health care today is quite literally delivered through the facilitation and communication of information," said John R. Seffrin, Ph.D., chief executive officer of the American Cancer Society. "The addition of Greg Donaldson to the society's senior management team will enable us to continue our strategic efforts to enhance and promote the American Cancer Society as the preeminent source of cancer information and services."

In his role with Humana -- a Fortune 500 managed health care company with revenues of approximately $10 billion -- Mr. Donaldson provided management oversight of the corporation's nationwide media relations activities and new media communications programming. In addition, during his tenure with the health insurer, he also created employee communications programs and provided management oversight of Humana's community relations activities.

Before joining Humana, Mr. Donaldson served in a similar role with the Kentucky Lottery Corporation and spent more than a decade as an award-winning broadcast journalist and managing editor, primarily with WAVE-TV (NBC) in Louisville. Mr. Donaldson, a native of Louisville Kentucky and a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will relocate to the Society's national home office in Atlanta, Georgia.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.
